A Nihonbashi tour in Tokyo remotely guided by an avatar robot on a traveler’s shoulder is launched

Mitsui Fudosan, a Japan’s leading real estate developer, and ORY Laboratory, a avatar robot developer, has begun offering a new tour guided by avatar robot ‘OriHime’ in Nihonbashi area. OriHime is a communication robot with a camera, microphone and a speaker, which can realize conversation between a user and a pilot (an operator) remotely.

For the "OriHime Nihonbashi Guided Tour," a pilot can guide a traveler through the "OriHime" that sets on your shoulders, allowing them to walk and talk while enjoying a truly immersive sightseeing experience. English-speaking guides are also available.

Staring from ‘Avatar robot cafe DAWN ver.β,’ the tour stops by famous tourist spots in the area and guides shopping in the long-established stores.

ORY Laboratory has developed OriHime especially to solve the “restrictions posed on movement” caused by hospitalization, physical disability and so forth.
