Anime Tourism Association is launched to develop wide area tourist routes with sacred spots for anime

Anime Tourism Association was launched on September 16 2016 to boost the inbound travel market and local revitalization with anime or manga. The Association will make public-private efforts by using world-famous animations or mangas as Japan’s original tourism content.

In particular, the Association will select 88 sacred spots for anime nationwide based on voting on a special website, which will be a base to develop wide area routes connecting selected sacred spots. Also, local companies or contents holders will work together to provide products or services and to develop visitor receipt environments. The efforts are expected to give rise to economic impacts.

The Association is led by Yoshiyuki Tomino, animation director, as head director, supported by Yasuhiro Tsuboi, JTB Director, Makoto Natsume, President & CEO Narita International Airport Co., Tadashi Fujita JAL Executive Vice President and Keisuke Murayama Yamatogogoro CEO as directors.
