International arrivals in Japan reached record-high 3.9 million for October 30, boosted by autumn leaves

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of international arrivals in Japan in October 2025 was up 17.6% year on year to 3,896,300, record-braking for October with 580,000 more arrivals than a year ago.

JNTO said that the inbound travel market in October was boosted by autumn leaves and holidays in East Asia.

The largest origin market was South Korea with 867,200 visitors (up 8.4% year on year), followed by China with 715,700 visitors (up 22.8%, Taiwan with 595,900 visitors (up 24.4%), U.S. with 335,700 visitors (up 20.6%) and Hong Kong with 196,000 visitors (down 1.4%).

Visitors from five source markets broke the records on a single month basis, such as Canada with 73,000 (up 10.8%) and Mexico with 24,800 (up 29.2%). Visitors from 13 source markets resulted in record-high for October. 

On the contrary, visitors from Thailand were down 4.8% to 125,900 because of the economic instability, and visitors from Singapore down 4.5% to 65,700 because of reduction in flights. 

The total number for the first 10 months of 2025 was up 17.7% year on year to 35.547,200.
