Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) reported that the number of Japanese international travelers in March 2026 was up 6.7% year on year to 1,519,000, turning to a growth from a reduction in the previous month. 

Compared to March 2019 (1.93 million travelers), the number was still down 21.3%.
