Japanese overseas travelers were still down 97% to 52,000 in September 2021, compared to two years ago

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of Japanese overseas travelers were 52,400 in September 2021, about 20,000 more travelers than a year ago, but 97% fewer travelers than two years ago (1,751,477 travelers). 

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were down 1.6% year on year to 2,656 in September 2021, and available seats were up 6.7% to 650,599 in total. Narita and Haneda increased both flights and available seats, while four other airports decreased both.
