Only 50,000 Japanese travelers departed overseas in October 2021

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of Japanese overseas travelers were 50,800 in October 2021, about 20,000 more travelers than a year ago, but 96.9% fewer travelers than two years ago (1,663,474 travelers).

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were down 8.6% year on year to 2,677 in October 2021, and available seats were down 1.4% to 653,998 in total. Narita and Haneda increased both flights and available seats, while four other airports still suffered from the decline.
