The first three National Cycle Routes in Japan are designated to appeal cycling tourism

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has designated three cycling routes as the first National Cycle Route to appeal cycling tourism in Japan to the world. At the same time, a National Cycle Route log is made for branding.

The designated routes are 176 km ‘Tsukuba-Kasumigaura ring-ring road’ in Ibaraki Prefecture, 193km ‘Biwaichi’ in Shiga Prefecture and 70km ‘SHIMANAMI KAIDO cycling road’ between Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture and Imabari, Ehime Prefecture.
