YOY comparison of visitors to Japan from Australia, U.S.A. and U.K. in Sep. 2015

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)’s statistics in September 2015 finds that visitors to Japan increased by 13.3% year on year to 34,700 from Australia, 10.1% to 76,300 from U.S.A. and 9.9% to 22,700 from U.K. All of the monthly results were record-high for September.

The following table shows changes of visitors from the three markets in the last 12 months:

JNTO analyzed that the monthly growth in the Australia market mainly resulted from an increase in family travelers in the spring break beginning late September and also positive word of mouth for Japan. Even after October, potential travelers who are looking forward to winter sports and autumn leaves may boost the market, according to JNTO.

The U.S.A. market was boosted by reduction of fuel surcharges, the weak yen trend and improvement of the domestic economy in U.S.A.

In the U.K. market, potential demand was stimulated by the weak yen trend, upward domestic economic condition and a variety of tourism promotions by JNTO.
