45% of International travelers arriving in Kansai Airport book local experiences in Japan before their departures

Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau (OCTB) released ‘Kansai Airport Exit Poll 2025.’ According to the results, 67% of international travelers arriving in the airport enjoyed paid local experiences in Japan, and 45% of those booked them before their departures. 13% booked after arriving in Japan, and 10% on site. 

In most source markets, the ratio of travelers who booked before visiting Japan exceeded the ratio of travelers who booked after visiting Japan. The high ratios of bookers before visiting Japan were found in Philippines (65.8%), Southeast Asia (59.6%) and Australia and New Zealand (56.1%). In China, the ratio was 28.6% only, and the ratio of travelers who did not participate in paid local activities was 55.3%, higher than other markets.

Among travelers participating in paid local experiences, the most-used booking platform was Klook (42.1%), followed by booking.com (14.8%), trip.com (11.8%), KKday (11.0%) and Agoda (9.6%).

Klook said that the average bookings a day during Osaka Kansai Expo from April to October 2025 were up 40% year on year, and local tourist passes like ‘Osaka e-pass’ or ‘Have Fun in Kansai Pass’ and public transportation tickets were sold well.
