Chinese travelers entering Japan are no longer required negative certificate on April 5

The Japanese government has eased the border control for Chinese travelers on April 5 2023. With a three-jabs vaccination certificate, they are no longer required PCR-negative certificate 72 hours before departure. Even without an effective vaccination certificate, they are allowed to enter Japan with PCR-negative certificate 72 hours before departure.

The PCR sampling test for up to 20% of entries at random continues.

The new rules will be lifted completely when the legal infection status of COVID-19 is lowered to Level 5, the same level as influenza, on May 8 2023. Instead of the PCR sampling test, ‘Infection genome surveillance’ for entry travelers with fever or coughing will be introduce.
