Jetstar will charge baggage in the overhead bin in February 2027. A passenger using overhead bin is required to buy a paid option before boarding.
Specifically, the LCC is revamping its carry-on baggage policy and, effective February 2, 2027, will eliminate the current 7-kilogram weight limit. While passengers may bring one bag (up to 40 x 30 x 20 cm) on board for free, those wishing to bring additional luggage or items exceeding the size limit for under-seat storage must purchase the "Priority Carry-on" service in advance.
Purchasing the option, passengers are allowed to bring a second, larger bag (up to 56 x 36 x 23 cm) for the overhead bin and includes priority boarding privileges. Prices start at AUD 25 one-way on select routes and vary depending on the specific flight.
Jetstar has decided to introduce the option, based on the survey for customers and staff, who said that they feel stresses on measuring the size of baggage at an airport or looking for a space for baggage in the overhead bin.
The option targets Jetstar flights, not including Jetstar Japan flights.
