JTB and JR Tokai, a Japan’s railway company, launch a luggage delivery service between Tokyo and Kyoto with Shinkansen

JTB and JR Tokai, a Japan’s railway company, has launched luggage delivery service ‘LUGGAGE EXPRESS’ between Tokyo and Kyoto with Shinkansen since November 1 2025. The service enables a traveler to receive luggage that is checked in a hotel in Tokyo at a hotel in Kyoto on the day.

JTB and JR Tokai primarily target international travelers to Japan who need empty-hand travel, and the service is expected to solve the hotels’ issues in making a space for temporary luggage storage and looking for a delivery operator.

Using ‘LUGGAGE EXPRESS,’ a traveler can receive luggage checked until 9:00 a.m.in Tokyo at a hotel in Kyoto by 18:00 p.m. (¥16,500) or 21:00 p.m. (¥13,200).

They have a multi-language customer support service for foreign travelers. They plans to extend designated hotels or check-in/out spots and also to collaborate with travel companies.
