JR Tokai, JR West Japan and JR Kyushu will begin a new Shinkansen booking service on LINE, the biggest communication app in Japan, on October 4 2025. PayPay, a digital wallet, can be selected as payment.

For the service, a user has to join in LINE official account for the Shinkansen Booking as a friend and link with the LINE account. Right after agreeing with the service regulation, a user can book Shinkansen on LINE.

A user can get on Shinkansen without ticket, using registered IC card or QR code issued after booking.
