ANA and JAL suffered a 60% decrease in passengers during the 2020-2021New Year holidays, affected by suspension of ‘Go To Travel’

ANA and JAL reduced their domestic flight passengers by around 60% year on year and dropped the load factors to 40% during the 2020-2021 New Year holiday period(December 25 2020 to January 3 2021), damaged by suspension of the government’s domestic travel recovery program ‘Go To Travel’ nationwide.

ANA reduced its domestic flight passengers by 58.4% year on year to 625,279 with the load factor of 40.1% (-39.9 points). The lowest load factor was 36.9% for Chugoku and Shikoku, and the highest load factor was just 42.5% for Okinawa. International flight passengers were down 94.9% to 15,933 only, including 475 for Hawaii, the busiest route usually in New Year holidays.

JAL also reduced its domestic flight passengers by 62.3% year on year to 427,190 with the load factor of 43.5% (-37.3 points). The lowest load factor was 40.5% for Hokkaido. International flight passengers were down 94.5% to 15,068.
