A new settlement service debut for accommodations in Japan to receive payment from global OTA more quickly and automatically

Temairazu, a booking management platform provider, and NTT Data have begun offering a new BtoB settlement service in linkage with ‘TEMAIRAZU,’ a platform for an accommodation to manage bookings from multiple global OTAs. The service enables an OTA to send money to an accommodation more quickly and automatically after receiving payments from travelers, using not conventional bank transfer but Mastercard’s VCN.

When booking through an OTA, there is a B2B payment flow where accommodation fees are settled between an accommodation and an OTA. Therefore, an accommodation currently has to bear a heavy burden of matching the reservation information and payment information from numerous OTAs.

The new service utilizes a VCN to automate settlement tasks such as billing and reconciliation confirmation for accommodation reservations made via overseas OTAs, which is expected to reduces the administrative burden on an accommodation and improves cash flow by stabilizing and speeding up payments.

The service is firstly introduced by agoda and Kuretakeso Holdings that operates ‘Kuretake Inn’ nationwide in Japan. Temairazu and NTT Data aim to extend the service network to 2,000 accommodations in Japan in linkage with major global OTAs by 2027.

The VCN payment use virtual sub-numbers issued using a corporate Mastercard credit card (purchasing card) as the parent number, and it becomes one of the mainstream methods of international B2B payments.

As security standards must be met in Japan, it is difficult for an accommodation to handle its own VCN independently. In the new service, NTT DATA securely manages card numbers on behalf of an accommodation, allowing them to use VCN payments in a manner that complies with regulations.
