Japan Tourism Agency announced that the total amount of Japanese domestic travel consumption was up 9.0% year on year to 8 trillion yen in the 3rd quarter of 2025 (July to September 2025), which were divided into 6.7 trillion yen for overnight trips (up 11% year on year) and 1.3 trillion yen for day trips (up 0.1% year on year).

The total number of Japanese domestic travelers in Japan was up 4.6% year on year to 161 million, which consisted of 90 million overnight travelers (up 5.4%) and 71 million day travelers (up 3.7%).
Travel spending a travel per traveler was up 4.2% to 49,912 yen. It was up 5.3% to 74,485 yen for overnight trip and down 3.4% to 18,639 yen for day trip.
