Berlin-based multimodal booking platform 'Omio' has entered the Japanese market to provide international travelers to Japan with booking opportunities of transportations in Japan. Japan is the 47th market globally and the first market in East Asia for Omio.

Omio deals with a variety of railways, including Shinkansen and Japan Railway Pass, long-distance buses, domestic flights, ferries and so forth. Omio said that the search and booking service encourages international travelers to visit local areas in Japan.

Established in 2013, Omio has two platforms of ‘Omio’ and ‘Rome2Rio’ and also provides OTAs and transportation operators with BtoB business solutions with a goal to extend the business to 70 or more markets by 2028.
