Occupancy Result During “Obon” Period Strong, Peach Aviation Marked Over 90% Occupancy for both Domestic and International Flights – 3 Japanese LCCs

Occupancy result of the 3 Japanese LCCs during “obon” period (9th ~ 18th, Aug., 2013) became clear. Each of these companies have rapidly expanded flight network in the past year. The number of the flight seats supplied this summer increased steeply compared with last summer which was shortly after each airline came in service, and this resulted in a large increase of the number of passengers. In particular, Peach Aviation (MM) marked a strong result with occupancy rates of over 90% for both domestic and international flights.

▼Peach Aviation: strong, 50% passenger increase in international fights

Peach aviation (MM), during the above mentioned period, operated 46 flights (round trips) each day. Flight seats supplied counted 82,080 with 107.3% increase compared with last year and boarded 76,821 passengers with 105.7% increase compared with last year resulting in 93.6% occupancy. 12 flights (round trips) each day were operated in international flights to and from Seoul, Hong Kong and Taipei, supplying 21,600 seats with an increase of 50% compared with last year. The number of passengers on these flights increased by 55% compared with last year counting 19,881 and also with a high occupancy rates of 92%.

▼Jetstar Japan: the largest number of the passengers with over 100 thousand

Jetstar Japan(GK), during the above mentioned period, operated 35 domestic flights (round trips) each day and supplied 126,000seats with 337.5% increase compared with last year. As a result, the number of passengers steeply increased to 108,657 with 321.3% increase compared with last year, achieving the highest passenger number in the 3 LCCs.

▼AirAsia Japan: strong, with 79% occupancy rate in domestic flights

During the above mentioned period, AirAsia Japan (JW), which will temporary stop flights in order to establish a new company with ANA Holdings in coming October, supplied 32,400 seats in domestic flights with 52.5% increase compared with last year and the number of the passengers increased by 44.3% reaching 27,942. Occupancy rate was 86.2%. 18,000 seats supplied in the 4 international flights operated yielded to 14,346 passengers with 79.7% occupation.
