NAVITIME JAPAN, a leading navigation app provider of Japan, analyzed flight movement trends by international travelers to Japan, based on data from ‘Japan Travel by NAVITIME’ app.
According to the app data between November 2024 and October 2025, Shizuoka was the top airport international travelers from Asia arrived with 4.07 times more arrivals than a year ago, and Naha from Europe, U.S. and Australia with 2.42 times more arrivals than a year ago.
Top 5 airports were Shizuoka, Yonago, Hiroshima, Sendai and Komatsu from Asia and Naha, Chubu, Fukuoka, Kansai and Narita from Europe, U.S. and Australia.
Shizuoka Airport has direct flights from South Korea and China in December 2025 and connected directly with Hong Kong since December 2024.
The data shows that travelers arriving at Shizuoka Airport visited neighboring cities, such as Shizuoka City, Fuji City or Fujinomiya City, and also Fuji Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Haneda-Sapporo was the most-used domestic route
The most-used domestic route by international visitors was Haneda-Sapporo, followed by Narita-Sapporo, Haneda-Itami (Osaka), Kansai-Sapporo and Narita-Kansai.
On the Haneda-Sapporo route, the largest increase in passenger numbers was seen in February 2025 for flights departing from and arriving at Haneda, and in December 2024 for flights departing from and arriving at Narita, with both seeing a large increase in passenger numbers in the winter.
18.9% of passengers travel from Haneda or Narita to Sapporo on the first or second day of their trip, and then return from Sapporo to Haneda or Narita on the last day or the day before.
For flights departing from Haneda or Narita to Sapporo, 39.9% of flights departing from Haneda and 43.6% of flights departing from Narita travel on the first or second day. Meanwhile, for flights departing from Sapporo to Haneda or Narita, 41.5% of flights arriving at Haneda and 44.9% of flights arriving at Narita travel on the last day or the day before.
