Vacation rental experiences accounts for just 3.9% in Japan - Recruit survey

The latest Recruit’s survey on vacation rental in Japan finds that experiences accounted for just 3.9% of the total. The ratio of respondents who do not purchase a property next to a home stay-typed vacation rental room was 80.6%, and the ratio of those who do not purchase a property next to a vacation rental room without a living-together host was 81.3%.

The ratios of those who do not purchase a property in an apartment with a vacation rental room were 68.5% in the case of a home stay-typed vacation rental and 69.8% in the case of a vacation rental room without a living-together host.

About seventy percent of those respondents also answered that they do not purchase such the rooms even though the price is down. In contrast, about ten percent of those respondents answered that they do not care without a vacation rental room on the same floor.

Regarding rules for the vacation rental system, the ratios of an answer that vacation rental must be promoted after rules are made were 57.8% for home stay-typed vacation rental and 72% for vacation rental room without a living-together host. The ratio of an answer that vacation rental must not be promoted was about 20%.

Regarding vacation rental management, respondents who want to do accounted for 8.3%, while more than 90% answered they do not want to do.

The survey was conducted online to 3,090 respondents in the period form June 20 to 23 2016.
