Kintetsu Railway will sell digital tickets for the lines between Osaka Nanba or Kyoto and Nara to WeChat Pay users of China on WeChat mini program. The digital tickets, available by August 31 2024, allow users to pass through a ticket gate only by tapping the QR-based ticket on the gate.
The system is established in partnership with Linktivity, a e-ticket booking platform. A digital ticket holder can pass through an automatic ticket gate directly without exchanging the QR-based thicket to a physical ticket at a station, which is the first service in Japan.
