Honichi (Inbound) Lab, a media outlet focusing on inbound tourism, has released its nationwide 'Ranking of Popular Hotels and Ryokans for Inbound Tourists,' based on an analysis of Google Maps reviews. The study analyzed 37,329 reviews (including 19,382 in foreign languages) posted between May 1 and September 15, 2026, covering a total of 470 properties—the top 10 most popular with inbound tourists in each of Japan's 47 prefectures.
‘Hotel Plaza Osaka’ in Osaka Prefecture took the number one spot nationwide. During the survey period, the hotel received 421 foreign-language reviews, with such reviews accounting for 86.5% of the total.
‘MIMARU Tokyo Kinshicho’ in Tokyo ranked second, and ‘Tokyu Stay Okinawa Naha’ in Okinawa Prefecture ranked third.Hotels in Tokyo occupied five of the top ten spots, and the apartment-style hotel brand "MIMARU" saw three of its properties (Kinshicho, Ikebukuro, and Ueno East) make the list.
