Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of international arrivals in Japan in July 2026 slightly increased by 0.1% year on year to 3,442.100, which were record-high for July.
The biggest source market was South Korea with 894,700 arrivals (up 31.9%), followed by Taiwan with 763,800 (up 26.4%), China with 428,200 (down 56.1%), US with 286,200 (up 3.3%), and Hong Kong with 272,500 (up 54.8%).
According to JNTO, arrivals from 17 source markets, such as South Korea, Indonesia or Mexico, were record-high for July. Notably arrivals from Taiwan exceeded 700,000 for the first time, boosted by an increase in flight seats and port-calls of cruise ships.
