International visitors’ purchasing intension DI for the future is down 3 points despite the number of visitors are expected to increase

Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting and Injestar, a interpreter human resource provider to retail shops, announced that diffusion index of purchasing intensions by international visitors to retail shops in Japan in the second quarter of 2025.

The current level DI was 65, the almost same as the previous quarter, and the current judgement DI, showing purchasing intensions in comparison with the previous month, was 62, also almost unchanged from the previous quarter. 

On the contrary, the future judgement DI was 65, three lower points than the previous quarter, though the number of visitors is expected to continue increasing. 

The DI represents ‘stronger purchasing intension’ with 50 or higher and ‘weaker purchasing intension’ with 50 or lower on a scale from 0 to 100 points.
