Japanese domestic travel consumption was up 6% in the Q2 of 2025 with a rise in spending per traveler

Japan Tourism Agency announced that the total amount of Japanese domestic travel consumption was up 6.2% year on year to 6.8 trillion yen in the 2nd quarter of 2025 (April to June 2025), which were divided into 5.3 trillion yen for overnight trips (up 4.3% year on year) and 1.5 million yen for day trips (up 13.5% year on year).

The total number of Japanese domestic travelers in Japan was up 0.3% year on year to 146 million, which consisted of 73.3 million overnight travelers (down 1.8%) and 72.4 day travelers (up 2.5%).

Travel spending a travel per traveler was up 5.8% to 46,676 yen. It was up 6.2% to 72,186 yen for overnight trip and up 10.7% to 20,832 yen for day trip.
