Japanese outbound travelers in June 2023 still remained a 54% reduction compared to 2019

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of Japanese overseas travelers were 703,300 in June 2023, approximately 30,000 more travelers than the previous month. The result still remained a 53.8% reduction compared to June 2019 (1,520,993 travelers). 

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were down 30.7% to 14,858 compared to June 2019, and available seats down 28.8% to 3.47 million. Among six major airports, only Haneda handed more flights and available seats than in June 2019, and Fukuoka recovered to about 90% of June 2019.
