Japanese overseas travel market still stagnated with 560,000 travelers in April 2023

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced that the number of Japanese overseas travelers were 560,200 in April 2023, approximately 130,000 fewer travelers than the previous month and still 66.4% down compared to April  2019 (1,666,546 travelers).

According to OAG, international flights departing from six major airports in Japan (Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sapporo) were up 324.6% year on year to 13,684, providing 3,250,332 seats in total (up 308.2% year on year). Including local airports, the total recovered to 14,393 flights (up 346%) and 3,389,071 seats (up 325.2%).
