NTT DX Partner conducted the demonstration experiment for ‘Sleep Tourism,’ a new travel style to improve quality of sleep, at MAE’s ‘Healthianwood,’ a beauty and health complex in Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture.

NTT DX Partner provided end-to-end support from tour design based on sleep engineering and the supervision of training programs to the design of verification protocols, selection of measurement equipment, and effectiveness assessment. MAE was responsible for developing sleep-experience content that capitalized on the facility's characteristics.

According to analyses after the demonstration, Guests improved their sleep efficiency and a reduction in time spent awake after initially falling asleep.Specifically, the duration of wakefulness after sleep onset decreased from 64.3 minutes prior to the stay to 49.8 minutes during the stay, while sleep efficiency rose from 84.9% to 88.2%.

Improvements in the ability to fall asleep continued even after they left the complex. Results showed that the time taken to fall asleep after going to bed shortened from 16.2 minutes to 12.5 minutes, with this improvement being sustained.

Furthermore, in post-verification feedback, nine out of ten participants stated that they found value in the experience.
