The in-destination market scale in APAC is likely to expand to 10 trillion JPY by 2025, reported by Arival

Arival, the in-destination international conference organizer, revealed that the tour, activity and attraction market scale in APAC is likely to expand to $67 billion (about 9 trillion JPY) by 2024 and to $75 billion (about 10 trillion JPY) by 2025. Arival announced the forecast before ‘Arival Activate’ event is held in Bangkok on June 12 2023.

“Demand for travel in the region is now accelerating as many borders have reopened, encouraging travelers to return. As we saw when other regions reopened, travelers put experiences first in travel planning and spend,” Arival CEO Douglas Quinby said. “The challenge now will be for the global industry to get ready for the rapid influx of demand from across Asia Pacific.”

Online booking is expected to accelerate in the in-destination market, as the Arival research finds the online booking ratio will rise from 17% in 2019 to 30% in 2025 globally and more than triple in APAC due to rapid recovery of young generation travelers.

Quinby added, “Operators must be ready for discoverable and bookable on mobile, with plenty of Instagram- and TikTok-worthy moments.”
