Travel planners for Japan within a year account for 30% in nine Asian countries

The latest Japan Research Institute’s survey finds that the Asian city with the most experienced travelers to Japan was Bangkok (70%), followed by Shanghai (68%) and Guangzhou (61%). The survey was conducted to 20’s to 40’s middle-class people in 12 cities in nine Asian countries.

Interestingly, dissatisfactions in traveling in Japan varied with countries. High travel cost was the most dissatisfied point in Delhi, Jakarta, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Bangkok. In three Chinese cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou, language barrier was the top dissatisfaction.

The survey result shows that travel planners for Japan within a year accounted for 30% or higher in 12 cities, while people who hesitate to visit Japan account for 10% in each country. Major reasons for the hesitation were, for instance, seemingly high travel cost in Delhi and Jakarta, difficulty or trouble with acquisition of visa in Guangzhou and Beijing and anxiety about radioactive material in Shanghai.

The survey was conducted to 7,089 males and females with disposable income of $5,000 to $35,000 a year in Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Mumbai, Delhi, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi and Manila.
