According to JNTO, the large year-on-year increase in the number of visitors from South Korea mainly results from the extension of the LCC network and from effective promotional campaigns for autumn. The Chinese market particularly benefited from an increase in FIT thanks to the the easing of visa rules and from an increase in cruise ships visiting Japan. The Taiwan market was still active despite a reduced air capacity due to typhoons. For Hong Kong travelers, Japan was recognized as a safe leisure destination.
