ADR in Kyoto City was down 7% to 17,000 yen in August 2025, but the occupancy rate is expected to reach 90% in early October

DMO KYOTO reported that the average occupancy rate of 113 hotels in Kyoto City was 76.8% in August 2025, 4,9 higher points than 71,9% a year ago. The number of nights by international guests was up 16.3% to 584,655, which accounted for 64.4% of the total. The top source market was China.

ADR was down 6.7% to 16,863 yen. Duty-free sales of four department stores were down 15% to 2.9 billion yen, year-on-year reductions for six consecutive months. 

The occupancy rate of 22 ryokans was 36%, 6.5 lower points than a year ago.

DMO KYOTO has forecasted that the occupancy rates are expected to be 77.9% in September, 86.2% in October and 84.9% in November. In early October from 1 to 12 especially, the occupancy rate is expected to reach around 90%, boosted by higher demand of Chinese travelers during the National Day holiday period.
