Both ANA and JAL have received four times more international flight bookings in this busiest summer period than a year ago

ANA and JAL have received 1.7 to 2 times more domestic flight bookings and over four times more international flight bookings in this busiest summer ‘Bon’ period (August 6 to 16) than a year ago.

ANA increased domestic flight bookings by 66.8% year on year to 1,160,035 (down 26.3% over 2019) with the booking rate of 64.8%. Peach Aviation, a ANA Group LCC, increased those by 17.1% to 225,767. 

JAL ’s domestic flight bookings also increased by 92.6% year on year to 1,010,440 with the booking rate of 65%. JAL said that bookings on Okinawa flights have almost resumed to the pre-COVID-19 level. Spring Japan, a JAL Group LCC, increased those by 301.3% to 20,161 on three routes with the booking rate of 55%.

Bookings for Hawaii surge 

Both ANA and JAL considerably increased international flight bookings, particularly for Hawaii. ANA’s bookings were up 330.1% to 124,801 with the booking rate of 74.8%. ANA said that the booking rate on the Honolulu flights are close to 90%, and bookings on connection flights between North America and Asia via Narita have increased well. 

JAL Group also increased international flight bookings by 348.2% to 131,147 with the booking rate of 73.3%. JAL has received 10 times more bookings on the Hawaii flights than a year ago. ZIP AIR, a JAL Group LCC, increased bookings from 463 a year ago to 18,708.
