HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island in Okinawa stops serving a bottled water in a room, desalinating seawater for self-sufficiency

HOSHINOYA Taketomi Island in Okinawa has started self-sufficiency of drinking water by desalinating seawater and stopped serving a bottled water in a room to solve waste of plastic bottles as one of environment preservation efforts. Instead, a water tank is placed in a room, and a water server system in a public space.

Also, combination of a heat pump system with a solar energy generation system is expected to reduce CO2 emission and to ensure self-generation in an emergency case.

The resort hotel says, “As a resort co-existing island nature, we will keep natural preservation and sustainable activities.”
