Job-hunters for tourism in Japan increased by 1.8 times in June 2023 compared October 2022, when travel restrictions were eased

The latest survey by Indeed, a job hunting search platform, finds that job-hunters for tourism-related jobs in Japan increased by 1.8 times in June 2023 compared to October 2022, when the nationwide travel support program started. Since November 2022, when the government announced that they started considering ease of the COVID-19 classification, the number of job-hunters exceeded the previous months for four months in a row.

For inbound travel-related jobs, Indeed saw 2.3 times more job-hunters in June 2023 than October 2022 and 2.7 times more than June 2020. The ratio of inbound-related job-hunters in the entire tourism industry reached 25.9% in April 2023, the highest in the past six years. 

Meanwhile, the number of job searchers was up 1.1 times in June 2023 compared to October 2022, and it had exceeded the previous months for five months in a row since February 2023.

For inbound travel-related jobs, the number of job searchers was up 1.4 times compared to October 2022, when the border practically opened, and also, 1.4 times compared to three years ago.
