Ministry of Tourism Japan expands a partnership with ‘Pokémon GO’ to help travelers rediscover local historic architectures

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has started a partnership with ‘Pokémon GO’ in Kunimi, Fukushima Prefecture, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture and Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, The partnership with Niantic, the ‘Pokémon GO’ operator, allows the virtual game users to rediscover historic architectures in local areas.

The ‘Pokémon GO’ experiences are available in 10 cities, including the three cities this time, designated as ‘Historic City.’ Description of the selected architectures and a special logo are depicted on ‘Poké Stop,’ and a user can access to the ministry’s official information website from it.
