QR code for Shinkansen on Wechat mini program is now available for Chinese travelers, who can pass through the gate by holding it on

JR Tokai, JR West Japan and JR Kyushu have begun selling QR code for Shinkansen, instead of paper tickets, for Chinese travelers on Wechat mini program, working with a BtoB digital platform provider ‘Linktivity.’

A user can pass the gate and get on the Shinkansen by holding the QR code on, no longer needed to exchange a paper ticket to a digital ticket at a station.

The service is now available on the major routes from Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hakata, Kumamoto and Kagoshima and will be extended to other routes and areas within the end of 2025.
