JTB reported the popular destination ranking in so-called ‘Sliver Week,’ five-consecutive holidays (September 19 to 23 2026), and days before and after the week (September 18 to 27 2026), based on the JTB’s booking status.
The most popular FIT (without tour conductor) overseas destination is Hawaii, followed by Taiwan and South Korea, and most of the top 10 destinations are occupied by short-range Asian destinations except US west coast as 7th.
JTB said that the tours packaging JTB’s original experiences are selected in Hawaii Guam, Singapore or Australia. As a whole, a share of family travelers is higher. Honeymoon demands are high in Hawaii and Indonesia, and female travelers in Hong Kong/Macao and Thailand. More married couples are seen in US west coast.
Among overseas tours guided by tour conductors, the most popular destination is Italy, followed by Spain/Portugal and France. History and culture experience tours are selected in Europe, and tours for National Parks, big cities or Major League Baseball are popular in US.
The most popular FIT domestic destination is Kanto, followed by Kansai, Chubu, Hokkaido and Okinawa. Theme-parks are big purposes to visit in Kanto and Kansai, and in Hokuriku, Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route is a popular destination.
Among domestic tours guided by tour conductors, the top us Chubu, followed by Hokkaido and Tohoku. In the same manner as FIT, Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route is a popular destination.
