JTB, Good Fellows JTB and Taiwan-based Fontrip Technology Japan are collaborating in accelerating cross-border tourism, which is a tourism service for travelers to complete seamlessly booking, payment and entry for local activities and experiences in a destination.

While the digitalization of tourist destinations is progressing, travelers still face challenges, such as the need to purchase tickets from different websites for various facilities and the complexity of planning travel routes, that hinder seamless tourist mobility.

This partnership combines the JTB Group’s nationwide regional networks and distribution systems with the Fontrip Group’s cross-border digital tourism platform developed in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Macao, and its operational expertise for "FunPASS" travel pass brand.

The Fontrip Group operates a digital tourism platform centered on Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau, with a track record of selling over 13 million digital tickets annually as of 2025.

They aim to jointly create a ‘new standard for digital tourism infrastructure in Japan’ for travelers from around the world, ranging from domestic tourists to inbound visitors, thereby enhancing the convenience of tourism experiences and encouraging travel across multiple destinations.

As part of this partnership, ‘TOHOKU FunPASS,’ a digital sightseeing pass for the Tohoku region, was launched on October 1, 2026. The service enables travelers to enjoy a seamless journey using only their smartphones by simply presenting a QR code. It also includes special benefits redeemable at over 30 local facilities and shops.
