KKDAY JAPAN, a local experience booking platform, revealed that it received up to 2.2 times more local experience and optional tour bookings from Japanese international travelers for 10 days from March 26 to April 6 2026, before the Golden Week period, than a year ago.

The OTA analyzed that the upward trend resulted from the last-minutes demands after media reported that airlines would possibly raise fuel surcharges due to the recent rise in oil prices.

According to KKDAY, the highest growth rate was seen in South Korea with about 2.2 times more bookings, followed by 1.7 to 1.8 times more in Thailand and Vietnam and 1.6 times more in Europe.

The preferred products include charred cars with Japanese-speaking guides in Thailand and Vietnam and railway tickets in South Korea and Taiwan.
