Universal Studio Japan and Huis Ten Bosch received record-high visitors in 2016

Sogo Unicom reported that Tokyo Disneyland/Tokyo Disney Sea was ranked 1st with 30.2 million visitors (-3.8%) in 2016, followed by Universal Studio Japan (USJ) with 13.9 million visitors (+9.4%) and Huis Ten Bosch with 3.1 million visitors (+11.2%), both of which broke the previous records. Sanrio Puroland moved up 4th from 5th last year, receiving visitors by 25.4% year on year.

Visitors of top 10 leisure parks increased by 5.2%. Top five theme parks are as follows:

Among amusement parks, the top was Suzuka Circuit with 2 million visitors (+5.1%), followed by Yomiuri Land with 1.7 million visitors (+29.1%) and Hirakata Park with 1.6 million visitors (+6.2%). Top five amusement parks are as follows:

Among zoos, Ueno Zoo kept the 1st ranking with 4 million visitors (+7.5%), followed by Nagoya Higashiyam Zoo with 2.6 million visitors (+13.8%) and Tennoji Zoo with 1.7 million visitors (+26.9%).

Among aquariums, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium received record-high 3.4 million visitors (+5.3%), followed by Kaiyukan in Osaka with 2.5 million visitors (+11.9%) and Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium with 2 million visitors (+4.3%).

Among museums, 21ST Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa was ranked 1st with 2.4 million visitors (+34.7%), moving up from 3rd last year. The National Art Center, Tokyo reduced visitors by 12.5% to 2.3 million, and National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo was ranked 3rd with 2.2 million visitors (+27.9%).
