VELTRA, a local experience booking platform of Japan, revealed that Japanese  outbound travelers tend to seek efficient and convenient transportation in a destination to reduce stresses in traveling, like bus with toilet, according to the booking trends in this year’s summer holiday season. Bookings of airport transportation have been increasing as well. 

Local activities booked by Japanese travelers are more diversified, as they have more booked sports games, chartered tours or eco-tours in addition to historic and cultural tours or nature activities.

The average price per booking is up 43% as a whole, particularly up 34% in Asia, up 29% in Europe and up 27% in North America. In Hawaii, the increase rate is relatively low at 4%, and VELTRA said that Japanese travelers tend to reduce spending for local experiences as the whole travel cost including flight and hotel still rises. 

The most popular destination is Oahu Island in Hawaii, followed by Paris and Cairns. Los Angeles raises its ranking from 22nd last year to 6th, and Las Vegas from 21st lat year to 11th.
