JAL, JTB and JR East are working together for a ‘multi-layered tourism’ initiative in the eastern Japan area, which involves creating itineraries that combine multiple modes of transportation, such as rail and air travel.

They aim to launch a new tourism model for wide-area tour in the eastern Japan by connecting air, land and local experiences seamlessly.

JAL and JR East have been developing local revitalization programs, and JTB joined the collaboration to create and sell tours that can be customized for transportations, such as rail for outbound journey and air for return journey. The new tours departing from Tokyo Metropolitan area will be on sale from April to September 2026.

In addition, they are working together in discovering and creating local experience programs and in revitalizing local economy in partnership with local governments and business operators.
