The most-satisfied OTA in Japan was ikyu.com, and top was Rakuten Travel in activity booking

The latest user satisfaction ranking in Japanese OTAs, released by Oricon, a survey and analysis company, finds that icky.com became top for the first time in the domestic travel category, rising from the fourth last year.ikyu.com was top in the five subcategories, such as ’easy to use the site,’ ‘listed information’ and ‘easy to book’ and also top in ages of 40s, 50s and 60s. 

The second was JR Tokai Tours,, which was top in ‘cost performance’ and ‘smartphone site.’ The third was ‘jalan.net,’ which was top in ‘campaign and benefit’ and ‘safety’ sub-categories.

For outbound travel from Japan, trip.com became the most-satisfied OTA for the first time and was top in five categories of ‘easy to use the site,’ ‘easy to search,’ ‘listed information,’ ‘easy to inquire’ and ‘cost performance.’ 

The second was booking.com, jumping from the fifth last year, which was top in ‘easy to book.’ The third was Rakuten Travel, which was top in ‘campaign and benefit.’

Activity booking ranking

Top OTA in the activity booking category was Rakuten Travel Experience, winning in the sub-categories of ‘easy to use the site,’ ‘easy to search,’ ‘campaign and benefit,’ ‘easy to inquire’ and ‘cost performance.’

The second was ‘jalan.net,’ followed by ‘ActivityJapan’ as the third.

Among foreign -based OTAs, top was Klook, which was top in the sub-categories of ‘campaign and benefit’ and ‘cost performance.’ The second was KKday, followed by Vertra as the third.

Hotel meta-search ranking

Top in the hotel meat-search category was Travelko for three years in a row, which was top in ‘easy to compare’ for seven years in a row, ‘easy to search’ for four years in a row, ‘domestic hotel’ for three years in a row and ‘smartphone’ for five years in a row.

The second was Trivago, followed by Tripadvisor as the third and Skyscanner as the forth.
